The Family of John Jacob Hacker

Henry was the third child born to Johann Hacker and his first wife, Elizabeth Lueth. Henry was born 22 Feb 1861 in Buffalo, Erie Co., New York. He died on 23 Mar 1926 in Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan. He died after eating a large meal of pork chops and sausage. After dinner, family members remember Henry saying he was tired. He laid down and died, they say it was that quick. Henry's death certificate states it a little differently. His official cause of death was listed as "Acute Gastritis of 2 hours duration". He was only 65.

During his lifetime, Henry had many occupations. He worked in the lumber industry in Oscoda, Michigan in the late 1880's, he was a flour miller in 1900, he worked for his cousin's boat works in 1910, he was a clerk in a steel company in 1920 and when he died in 1926, his death certificate states he worked in the tool crib for Studebaker Corporation.

On 19 May 1884, Henry married Elizabeth Alice Wesley, daughter of William and Mary Wesley, in Oscoda, Iosco Co., Michigan. Elizabeth was born 24 Dec 1865 in Dexter, Washtenaw Co., Michigan. She died 5 Feb 1945 in Detroit. To their union was born six (6) children. Ruby and Henry (known mostly as Clyde) were born in AuSable/Oscoda, Michigan. The others were born in Detroit.

Married 1st) "Viola" bef Jan 1920 and 2nd) Bertha Frances Early in 1922
Children with Bertha: Wanda R. and Thomas Henry.

5. Evelyn Edna Hacker (1899-1982)
Married 1st) Mr. "Laughlin" bef 1920 and 2nd) Herbert Yancey in 1922
Children with Herbert: Elaine Eleanor.

6. Edith Helen Hacker (1904-1978)
Married 1st) Henry Griffith bef 1924 and 2nd) Clarence Floyd Mathie in 1925
Children with Clarence: Burton Kaye, Virginia Maxine and Jimmie Clarence.
