The Family of John Jacob Hacker

Wilhelm was the fifth child born to Johann Hacker and his second wife, Hulda Schemke. He was born 16 Sept 1885 in Washington Twp., Lucas Co., Ohio. 

Unfortunately for us, there are no federal census records for Wilhelm.

On 29 March 1890, Wilhelm Hacker died from Diphtheria. He was 4 1/2 years old. He was buried in Collingwood cemetery which was within walking distance of their home on Sylvania Ave. His tombstone is third in the row of four family gravestones; his mother Hulda is first, his father John is next, then lies Wilhelm and lastly Wilhelm's sister Ida who reportedly died from diphtheria on the same day as Wilhelm. 

Wilhelm's headstone is made of sandstone type material. The stone is 117 years old now and very weather worn. When I visited the cemetery in Sept 2007, I noticed that the only letters readable on his tombstone were three  letters in his first name (WIL) and four letters in his last name (CKER). This sandstone material won't last much longer.  His stone matches his sisters stone in material but they differ in shape. It may have been my imagination but one looked male (Wilhelms) and one looked female (Ida) to me.
